It has been a busy and exciting time for the Ada Lovelace Initiative so far this term! Following Naomi Freeman’s talk last week in Loreto Swords, Sona Harrison took a trip down memory lane by returning to her old school, Newtown Secondary School in Waterford.
Sona is a UX/UI Designer with Tapadoo. Tapadoo is a mobile app development company responsible for the creation of popular apps such as the Dublin Bus app.
Sona spoke to the students about how her career in technology began by studying Fine Art in NCAD and how her talents in art brought her into the world of technology.
The Transition Year students of Newtown were given the opportunity to watch the #TechTeamTour. The video series was created in order to encourage more students to choose a career in STEM. In the video series students are introduced to the daily routine of some of Ireland’s top technology professionals who explain what their jobs involve.
Sona’s A.L.I talk in Newtown Secondary School will feature in next week’s edition of The Munster Express.
Sona’s visit will be followed by Rafeala Jopia’s visit to Bremore Educate Together in Balbriggan. Rafeala is an iOS Developer at Tapadoo.
Grainne Healy will also be giving her Ada Lovelace Initiative talk in Colaiste Chiarain this week. Grainne is an IT Business Senior Analyst at Citi.
