This week Cathal Grogan, our Managing Director, was approached by The Irish Examiner to provide some insight on the recruitment trends he is seeing in jobs market. He talked in detail with journalist Joe Dermody about the types of roles that companies are recruiting for and focused on executive roles and the levels of pay that these people can expect. Yesterday Cathal Grogan, the Managing Director of Verify Recruitment, featured in The Sunday Times in an article written about suicide rates and depression in workers. A trend Cathal has seen is former executives and managers who have lost their jobs are finding it very hard to copy with the jobs hunting and this is having a very detrimental effect on their mental wellbeing. Last month the renowned Irish business magazine Business Plus released their Tech Trends Survey 2010. Business Plus do a series of very well respected surveys throughout the year that you can find on their website. They look in detail at the trends in each sector and what the following year will hold for Irish companies.

We believe the IT sector is vital to the future success of Ireland's economy and have been stressing the importance of ensuring the workforce are trained in the skills needed by the myriad of IT companies that are located here. Again and again we are seeing a worrying trend that international IT companies are finding it difficult to find suitably trained staff, with result that that are having to hire from abroad. This is a trend we are experience first hand and means that Ireland is literally throwing jobs away.
