It has been the busiest week so far for the Ada Lovelace Initiative! Following Sona Harrison’s trip down memory lane last week when she returned to her old school in Waterford, we’ve had a further five talks since then!

Fiona Savage, who is an IT Application Support Officer at Concern Worldwide, gave her A.L.I talk last week in St. Dominic’s College Cabra Co.Dublin.

Katherine Fitzpatrick kicked off the week by launching the Ada Lovelace Initiative in West Cork! Katherine shared her career story with the students of Scoil Mhuire Kanturk.

Katherine is a Leadership Development Manager at Amazon and her visit to Kanturk was her second A.L.I talk this year. The Kanturk visit marks the first ever A.L.I talk in the West Cork region, we hope this is the first of many!

Grainne Healy, who is a Senior IT Business Analyst at Citi, returned to her old school- Coláiste Chiaráin in Leixlip Co. Kildare this week. Grainne enjoyed reminiscing about her time spent in Coláiste Chiaráin as a student before embarking on a career in technology.

The Coláiste Chiaráin visit was followed by a very exciting double talk in St. Louis High School Rathmines Co. Dublin. Mary Lou Nolan and Emily Kane travelled to St. Louis High School to share their career stories with the transition year students there.

Mary Lou is the EMEA Director of Intellectual Ventures, who work with leading inventors and pioneering companies to find creative solutions to business and invention problems. Emily Kane is the QA Manager of Ding.com who are a telecommunications service provider.

Together, Mary Lou and Emily offered examples of technology roles that differ from each other, showing the students of St. Louis that there are technology roles out there to suit everyone with all kinds of interests.

The Ada Lovelace Initiative wouldn’t be a success without the time and commitment given by our voluntary role models, thank-you to all the role models who have visited schools so far this year and who have continued to show their support and enthusiasm for the Initiative.
