In October we reached over 400 pupils with The Ada Lovelace Initiative with the help of our voluntary role models and in the first two weeks of November alone, our role models are set to reach close to 500 pupils! Last week saw #alimystory launch in the Munster region with A.L.I. model Marie Keays visiting the Crescent College pupils in Limerick. This week is a momentous one for The Ada Lovelace Initiative; we will be reaching 5 counties in 5 days!
Five counties – Louth, Galway, Tipperary, Waterford and Dublin – pupils in each of these counties will be receiving a visit from an A.L.I. role model this week. Jolene Dunne, Software Developer with First Derivatives will kickstart this week’s visits with her visit to St. Louis Secondary School in Dundalk today.
With the Connacht roll-out of the role model visits, Louise Lohan of IBM will be speaking to the pupils of Salerno Secondary School in Salthill, County Galway tomorrow afternoon.
We would like to say well done to our role model Marie Keays who launched our Munster visits in Limerick last week! Marie is currently a biomedical instrumentation PhD researcher at the University of Limerick and she visited the T.Y. pupils of her old school, Crescent College Secondary School.
Continuing on the success of our launch in the Munster region thanks to Marie, we will have Sona Harrison of Tapadoo visiting Newtown School in Waterford and Pamela O’ Brien of LIT visiting the T.Y. pupils of Presentation Secondary School in Thurles, County Tipperary.
To all our great role models who have kindly volunteered to visit pupils this week, good luck and most importantly have fun!
