The first term of the 2016/2017 school calendar was a great success for The Ada Lovelace Initiative. The role models of the Ada Lovelace Initiative have been busy promoting technology careers across the country for our second round of school visits which will take place up until the school’s midterm in February.
Secondary school pupils nationwide are returning from their Christmas break this week, which means that the role models of The Ada Lovelace Initiative are back in action! This week our role model visits have a special theme, both talks are being given by first time Ada Lovelace Initiative role models.
The first talk of the new year took place this week when Aoidhbhin Durkin who is a Group IT Business Process Manager at Ardagh Group, visited the Transition Year pupils of Sancta Maria College in Rathfarnham to tell them about her career path. Ardagh Group manufactures packaging for the world’s biggest brands and Aoidhbhin travels around Europe every week to meet with a multitude of clients.
Aoidhbhin’s visit will be followed by a visit to Loreta Secondary School in Swords by Naomi Freeman next week. Naomi is the Co-Founder and CTO of Heuristext, an AI and social impact company, making the internet easier to read for everyone, everywhere. We are very excited to hear all about Naomi’s experience in Silicon Valley.
